E-Verification of ITR
e-Verification is the most convenient and instant way to verify your ITR. You need to verify your Income Tax Returns to complete the return filing process. Without verification within the stipulated time, an ITR is treated as invalid. e-Verification is the most convenient and instant way to verify your ITR.
Following are the ways to e-Verify :
- OTP on mobile number registered with Aadhaar, or
- EVC generated through your pre-validated bank account, or
- EVC generated through your pre-validated demat account, or
- EVC through ATM (offline method), or
- Net Banking, or
- Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
How to E -verify your ITR without logging into Income Tax Portal
Step 1: Go to E- filing Portal Homepage.
Step 2: Click on e-Verify Return
Step 3: Enter the PAN, Assessment Year, Acknowledgement Number of the ITR filed, Enter the Mobile number and click continue.
Step 4: Enter the 6 digit OTP received on your mobile number and click on ‘submit’ button.
Step 5: Select the e-verification mode to proceed further. The steps for different e-Verification modes are displayed here.
After entering otp, completing the ITR verification online, a success message page displays ‘ITR Successfully verified’ along with the date of verification.
A confirmation message shall also be sent on your e-mail ID and the mobile number registered on the e-Filing portal.
How to E verify your ITR with logging into Income Tax portal
Step 1: Log in to the e-Filing portal using your user ID and password.
Step 2: Click e-File > Income tax return > e-Verify Return.
Step 3: On the e-Verify Return page, click e-Verify against the unverified return.
Step 4: Enter the 6 digit OTP received on your mobile number and click on ‘submit’ button.
Step 5: Select the e verification mode to proceed further. The steps for different e-Verification modes are displayed here.
